Karva Chauth is a one-day festival celebrated by Hindu women in Northern India, in which married women fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands. The fast is traditionally celebrated in the states of Rajasthan, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.
But today in the modern world the meaning of Karva Chauth has changed for a lot of people. Although some people have the same meaning and celebrate the festival with same zeal and enthusiasm.
Here are 6 types you people you come across on Karva Chauth:
1. Lovie-Dovie Couple
These are the love couples where not only the wife but the husband also keeps fast for his wife. The husband considers the fact that Karva Chauth is a way of showing love and respect towards each other and if the female partner can do this then the male partner too can.
2. Hungry wife
Keeping fast on this day is not easy because one cannot drink water until and unless they see the moon. These type of people wait eagerly for the moon to come because they can no longer control their hunger. *Food is life, it is love*
3. Demand on demand Wife
For some wife’s it is the best opportunity to ask their husband for some gift and why not? They take all the pain of fasting, getting dressed, making a variety of foods, and gifts are all they ask for. No doubt the market is also ready to empty the pockets of the husband with all kind of offers and discounts. *strategy* :p
4. Don’t consider such beliefs
“Why to show love on one particular day when you can do it on the rest 364 days”. Many people don’t like this idea of keeping fast on one day or just one partner keeping fast on this day. They believe that this will not save the life of their husband. They have different views and ways of showing love to each other.
5. Bf-Gf k Liye fast
How better will you show love to your future better half? Well, haven’t you seen in colleges and hostels girls applying mehndi and keeping fast for their boyfriends? (I just hope they don’t repeat this with many :P)
6. Filmy Keeda
From Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge setting a perfect image of Karva Chauth for the unmarried girls to Bhagban showing the love between two old couples through telephone, films have created a beautiful image of this festival. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum type celebration is what most girls dream of.
Well, we have seen various types of people on this day but there is one thing that is common among them and that is the love, care, respect and honesty for each other. Karva Chauth is a way to make the bond between two partners strong and healthy, where the worth of both is realised.
Apart from these the best people on this day are the wives of army officials, who pray for the long and healthy life of their husband on the borders. They may or may not get a chance to celebrate this day with them but still, they celebrate it with utmost dedication and happiness because the safety of her husband is not only related to her but also to the whole nation. They know that this vrat will help their husband to come back alive and they will be strong to fight for the nation, so they don’t take the risk of missing it.
