Hindi TV Series Are No More The Saas-Bahu Sagas Feeding Guilty Pleasures

The exaggerated drama with unexpected, unwanted and bizarre twists is nothing but a Hindi serial. Yes! I am talking about ‘Godfather’ of trolls. The sets of over the top drama never deserted, because we love them. Aha! Stop there! You might be reading this on your personal screens in your personal space. No need to act now. If you are not a watcher of Hindi drama, then it must be your guilty pleasure; because everyone watches them. You would have trolled, cursed and made jokes out of it, yet you would have watched it.

Although our idiot box, which may be an idiot, but no more a box is broadcasting quite a new set of series. They are not in Saas-Bahu saga frame (At least for now!) and no more part of the guilty pleasure. You can pause for a minute to watch these recently started new series.

1. Ishq Mein Marjawa

Not all love stories are romantic. Love is the only emotion, which can become a reason for any kind of action. ‘Ishq Mein Marjawa’ is thrilling love story running chills down the spine. Arjun Bijlani is back with an intriguing tale of suspense. Your jaw will touch cold feet at the revealed story-line and complex characters. One cannot execute a good story-line with bad actors. Arjun and Alisha Panwar are living the characters, Deep Rai Chand and Nah! I am not revealing the female protagonist’s name. Her name will give an idea. Watch it! You will fall in love with them. (Although it is a bit slow!)

2. Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai

Elders at home take their sweet time to explain how their life in 90’s is different from our life. ‘Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai’ is a time travel to the period of cliché love. This is high schools, love at first sight story in the innocent and vulnerable hearts leaving you in ‘Aww’. The backdrop of a conservative family and patriarchal society in the streets of the non-digital century filled with authenticity and characters are realistic and relatable. The best part is the presentation; where the protagonist, Naina narrates her love story with dream boy Sameer. This story is just out of books, fresh and soothing. The storyline is simple, yet it drags you to next episode to live 90’s.

Time: Sony @ 10:30 PM (Monday – Friday)

3. Tu Aashiqui

waqt ne likha qaid, aur ishq ne rihayi.

Appeared like Aashiqui 2, Tu Aashiqui has more to offer. Leading woman’s character is stuck in a homemade jail and story go to narrate her release. However, the hero’s character has a tinge of Rahul Jaykar, with his failed singing career, reason yet to reveal. Pankti who is a sold good for her mother’s selfishness is assumed to gain strength from the love of Ahaan. His and Pankti’s love story is going to be complicated in the well-woven web of bought and sold relations.

P.s: Title song must be on your playlist. More is yet to come.

Time: Colors @ 7:00 PM (Monday – Friday)

4. Dev

Our Indian television rarely serves us the delicious dish of suspense, drama and ‘Dev’ is one of them. Dev Anand Burman, the detective solves cases bumping his own emotions. The best part of this series is crime stories solved does not overweigh the personal story of the detective who is tagged murderer of his wife. There is a lot of his story and few significant people around him (Ashish Chaudhary is doing a great job!). If you are a fan of the ‘Sherlock’ you can call ‘Dev’ an Indian version of him. You will even find a Lestrade and landlady with similar traits. However, Amod Narvekar (Police officer) in Indian series is not fond of Dev. Telecasted in weekends, you better not miss this.

Time: Colors @ 10:00 PM (Saturday – Sunday)

5. Haasil – Upcoming

Sony is doing well with romantic thrillers. After a successful run of Beyhad, it is coming up with ‘Haasil’. Appeared to be a triangle love story with a case on, hopefully, the story does not fall flat. Zayed Khan, Nikita Dutta and Vatsal Sheth are on board slaying in the promo. Sony impressed us with strong female characters; whether it is Sonakshi, Maya or Saanjh. We need to wait and watch, what ‘Aanchal Srivastava’ has in store.

Release Date – 30th October

6. Ek Deewana Tha – Upcoming

Another Sony product, not so impressed with the promo, but the story is doing the rounds. Romantic Horror Thriller (RHT) is another triangle between two humans and ghost. For a change, the non-living person is a guy (We are beyond chudail’s now!) who is floating in the astral body to be with her. Namik Paul with a pale face and black lines in an uncommendable VFX is not working (VFX is failing him!). So what are the things we need to get excited about? Well, those three elements RHT in the story; with uneven sides of triangle and good actors
